Sun Mahshene are Dublin-based band known for their expansive sound, blending layers of swirling guitars, ethereal synths, and driving rhythms. Since forming the band has carved out a distinctive presence in the psych and alternative rock scene, delivering a sound that is both cinematic and intense.
Drawing inspiration from classic shoegaze, as well as the energy of psych and alternative rock, Sun Mahshene craft music that balances melody with a full-on sonic assault. Their live act has been described as "unmissable" (IMRO). Creating wall of sound with a three-guitar approach, their anthemic songs are laden with hooks.
Debut full-length album, A Place We’ve Never Been, refined their signature sound and gained the band a hoard of new fans and followers. With its lush production, ambient textures, and emotionally charged songwriting, the album showcased the band's ability to merge introspection with sonic grandeur, and was mastered by Mark Gardener (Ride).
Sun Mahshene’s dynamic live performances have earned them a growing following, leading to support slots with major acts—including The Brian Jonestown Massacre in Belfast’s Ulster Hall and Dublin’s 3Olympia, and appearances at Electric Picnic and Vantastival.
Sun Mahshene’s latest single "Waves" is both a towering wall of sound and a bold statement of intent. Mixed and mastered by acclaimed producer James Aparicio (Spiritualized, Depeche Mode, Mogwai), it is a defiant marker of where the band are heading, and was launched with a sold-out show in Berlin.
As they continue to push the boundaries of shoegaze and psych rock, Sun Mahshene remains a band on the rise, creating music that is both immersive and electrifying.

Introducing “A Place We've Never Been”, the debut album by post-shoegaze group Sun Mahshene. Featuring soul-baring lyrics and atmospheric instrumentation, this album marks a step forward from the group’s earlier psych-rock sound.
Experience the elevating reverberations of first single “Reverie”, the upbeat and hopeful “New Shores”, and the striking closer “Rise” – all crafted with a careful balance of electronic and organic sounds, combining smooth-edged melodies with soaring three-part vocal harmonies. Listeners will feel uplifted and transported by the powerful “Turning Tide”, and the ethereal journey of “World”.

SPACE ECHOES: THE EPs (2022)
Space Echoes: The EPs marks a celebration of the bands previously released EPs, "Contradictions & Tales of Fiction" and "Closing Circles".
In both, the band display their psych-rock influences, with a wall of sound in thrall to the sound of dark psychedelia. Tracks like "Tales of Fiction" and the epic closer "When The Bomb Drops" remain live favourites.
Sun Mahshene released a limited run of this compilation LP which sold out in a matter of hours.
